About Me

Before becoming a Reflexologist, I was a primary school teacher for over ten years. I first discovered reflexology when I went for my own treatments, to help improve a number of stress-related symptoms I was experiencing during teaching, including digestive issues and poor sleep. I couldn’t believe how much reflexology helped me and I wanted to share this wonderful therapy with others and help them too.
So, in 2017, I had a very big career change and began my Reflexology Diploma training! I have always been interested in holistic therapies, but for me, reflexology is the most fascinating and most relaxing!
I qualified with an NVQ Level 3 in Reflexology in July 2018 from Calming Influences School of Holistic Therapies, in Southampton, led by Dr Jackie James. This course is fully accredited by the Association of Reflexologists, who I have full membership with. This means I am bound to their code of practice and I am committed to continued training and development.
After qualifying, I began to set up my reflexology business and I continued to have my own reflexology treatments to support me on my IVF fertility journey and during pregnancy. I still love to have treatments when I can, as I find reflexology helps me to stay calm and helps to improve my overall wellbeing.
I have a son, who was born in June 2021, through IVF. Going through IVF was one of the hardest and most isolating things I have ever gone through, and therefore, I am extremely passionate about supporting other women on their fertility journeys. I trained and qualified in Fertility Reflexology and Maternity Reflexology in 2019.
In 2023, I qualified in Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD). This is an award-winning technique, which was created by Sally Kay, while she was working in supportive cancer care. This technique focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet – encouraging the lymph to move in the body.
Although this specialist technique was designed to benefit sufferers of lymphoedema following breast cancer treatment, I use it at the beginning of all my reflexology treatments, as I feel everyone can benefit from RLD. RLD can also be used as a stand-alone (50 minute) treatment. Please get in touch with me to discuss whether you feel a full RLD treatment is something you think you would benefit from.
I am also really into practising mindfulness. I believe that using mindfulness was one of the reasons why my fourth round of IVF worked (as well as having regular reflexology, of course!). I still use mindfulness techniques daily to help ease my anxiety and to cope with the challenges of being a mum. I share my mindfulness practices and techniques with my clients, in newsletters, on my Facebook page and here, on my website. I think anything we can do to help us manage this busy and fast-paced world we find ourselves living in, is important!
For me, there is so much more to being a reflexologist, than just providing a reflexology treatment – the role involves doing research around client’s needs and conditions, offering lifestyle advice and providing a listening ear. It's about building a caring, nurturing and strong rapport with my clients.
When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, spending time in nature – gardening and walking my dog, George, in Cuckfield’s beautiful countryside! I also really like to attend yoga classes and to meditate at home.
Thank you for visiting my website and I look forward to welcoming you for a reflexology treatment sometime or sharing something that inspires you! Rachel
